Kenneth “Kenny” L. Rossing, 78, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021, at North Lawn Cemetery, 2201 N. 15th Street, with Rev. John Elkin officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Kenneth was born April 21, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Gerald V. and Mildred A. (Niemeyer) Rossing. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1962. In 1965, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1967. He then made his home in Dayton, IA where he resided until 2000. Kenny was united in marriage to Susan L. West on February 11, 1983, in Fort Dodge. Kenny worked at the Lehigh Sewer Pipe and Tile Company before becoming self-employed in the scrap metal industry (40 years). He owned Oak -N- More in the Mall and did many Flea Market shows on the road. Kenny was a simple man and a collector of many things. He enjoyed old cars, buying/selling, UFC and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes & Minnesota Vikings.
Kenny is survived by his wife: Sue Rossing of Fort Dodge; 5 children: Michelle Miller and husband Mike of Minnesota, Kenny Rossing of Renwick, IA, James Rossing and wife Jenny of Webster City, IA, Jacki Mahoney of Missouri, and Bob Belthius and wife Deb of Harcourt, IA; 16 grandchildren: Travis, Karter, Cooper, Parker, Gage, Dylan, Jordan, Jared, Madison, Dakota, Hayleigh, Jared, Abby, Andrew, Quinn and Connor; 3 great grandchildren: Aria, Noah and Ian; and 2 sisters: Jane Zelenka and husband Tony of New York and Shirley Groat and husband Rodney of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by his nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents: Joseph & Alta Rossing and William G. & Mary Dorothy Niemeyer.
