Kenneth E. Tegland

Kenneth “Ken” E. Tegland, 79, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Sam Mack of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Interment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kenneth Edward was born March 3, 1942, in Kanawha, IA, the son of Edgar and Maxine (Dunfee) Tegland. He attended school in Fort Dodge. On August 27, 1961, Ken married Deanna Dankel in Fort Dodge, and to this union 2 children were born: Rhonda and Rodney. The couple later divorced. On February 1, 1984, he married Lenore Kelly in Fort Dodge. Over the years, Ken worked at Coats Company, Standard Engineering, Montgomery Wards, Bush Hog, drove truck, and Brooks Laundry until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his great grandchildren. He also enjoyed hummingbirds, church, camping, fishing, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and relaxing in his chair while watching TV. Ken was full of jokes and smart alec comments. He will be dearly missed.

Ken is survived by 2 children: Rhonda Dicus and husband Dan of Fort Dodge and Rodney Tegland and wife Brandi of Sac City, IA; 3 step-children: Tina Meyer of Ames, IA, Mike Fellers and wife Barb of Des Moines, IA and Doug Fellers and wife Miranda of Lakefield, MN; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister: Donna Jean Winters of Madrid, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2014; 2 step-children: Phil Fellers and Raymond Fellers; great grandson: CJ Premo; and brother-in-law: Kenneth Winters.
