Kathy J. Smith

Kathy J. Smith, 62, of Humboldt, IA, died Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM with a time of sharing at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South – Fort Dodge. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kathy was born August 16, 1958, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Richard Betty and Beverly Alice (Stafford) Ziegler. She attended Webster City High School. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, live music and attending concerts. She also enjoyed a nice cold drink and having a good time.

Kathy is survived 2 sons: Jeremy John Doty and wife Kimberly of Omaha, NE and Justin Jay Doty of Humboldt; 6 grandchildren: Autumn Elizabeth Doty, Teo David Doty, Lillyan Danyell Doty, Sophia Marie Doty, Amora Lizzette Doty and Anthony Joseph Crees; 8 siblings: Richard Ziegler of Arizona, Chris Hatley of Indiana, Jack Ziegler and wife Cheryl of Fort Dodge, Sue Sheldon of Dakota City, IA, Bill Ziegler of Fort Dodge, Jimmy Ziegler of Fort Dodge, Daniel Ziegler of Humboldt and Edward Ziegler and wife Dee of Grinnell, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Danyell Marie Doty; 2 siblings: Curtis Lee Ziegler and Jeffrey Paul Ziegler; and sister-in-law: “Dee Dee” Margaret Pratt.
