Johnnie Dean Potts

Johnnie Dean Potts, 73, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Lyle Hansen of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Olaf Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856.  Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Johnnie was born February 14, 1932 the son Furdie and Emma (Peters) Potts in Lake City, IA.  On February 28, 1952 Johnnie enlisted in the United States Army serving his country honorably until his discharge on November 30, 1953.  During his service to his country Johnnie earned the following commendations; Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Johnnie was united in marriage to Leone Denning in 1954 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.  To this union one son was born.

Johnnie spent most of his life working on Ag machinery with 28 years being dedicated to Allis-Chalmers.  He also worked for Glen Goodmanson for several years and most recently was a grounds keeper at Sunkist Meadows Golf Course.

Those thankful for having shared in Johnnies life include a special friend; Bernice Holst, one son; Robert of Fort Pierce, Florida, one sister; Arlene (Robert) Milberger of Fort Dodge, three grandchildren; Jereme, Bobbi Jo, Jason, three great grandchildren; Haylie Jo, Jessica, and Joshua, two nieces; Karen Marsh, Joann Grossnickle, and one nephew, Randy Grossnickle.

Mr. Potts was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Leone.
