John L. Smith

John Leroy Smith, 77, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday March 16, 2008 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.             According to Johns wishes he was cremated and no services will be held.             John was born October 22, 1930 the son of William and Edna (Wood) Smith in Fort Dodge, IA.  On August 7, 1954 John was united in marriage to Marlene Cibert to this union one son was born.             John worked for the Fort Dodge Water Dept. for many years and owned and operated his own body shop.  He loved spending hours working in the wood shop.  John was an outdoorsmen who enjoyed trout fishing in Northeast Iowa, working with and controlling teams of draft horses, as well as raising his bountiful garden produce that he enjoyed selling around the area.              Those thankful for having shared in Johns life include his wife Marlene, son William Smith of Fort Dodge, three sisters; Bernice Weaver of Spirit Lake, IA, Norma Summers of Bradgate, IA, Barb Swanberg of Fort Dodge, IA, two grandchildren; Tabatha and Samantha Smith and many nieces and nephews.             Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Fern Faith, Edna Mae Garrett, four brothers; Roger, Merle, Paul and George Smith.
