Joanne Ellen Petersen

Joanne Ellen Petersen, 75, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, surrounded by family at UnityPoint – Trinity Regional Medical Center.  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM with Pastor Emily Sauer of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating.  A private family inurnment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Joanne was born July 31, 1947, in Emmetsburg, IA, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Tubbs) Lutroe.  She attended Humboldt High School.  On November 13, 1965, she was united in marriage to Roger D. Petersen at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.  Joanne was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren.  They were her life.  She also enjoyed hanging with her friends, music, camping and cooking.  She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 57 years:  Roger D. Petersen of Fort Dodge; 3 children:  Allan Petersen and wife Becky of Fort Dodge, Pam Newkirk of Fort Dodge, and Mike Petersen of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren:  Mandi Preston of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nicholas Newkirk and wife Courtney of Fort Dodge, Brent Petersen and wife Bridgette of Fort Dodge, Beth Hinners and husband Joe of Gilmore City, IA, Brandan Schoenfeld and fiancée Maci of Fort Dodge, and Nathanael Nelson of Fort Dodge; and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
