Jerry R. LaBaume

Jerry R. LaBaume, 82, of Harcourt, IA, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Rev. John Elkin officiating.  A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jerry was born September 6, 1939, in Hamlin, TX, the son of George and Georgia (Lassiter) LaBaume.  He graduated from High School in Texas.  On February 2, 1980, he was united in marriage to Julia (Thurston) Echelberger in Gilmore City, IA.  Jerry worked as a truck mechanic at Clements Auto and Truck for 28 years.  He worked for Shoppers Supply where he delivered freight for 10 years.  Jerry enjoyed going to auctions, antique shops (all over the country), camping and taking care of his dog:  Babe.  Jerry was a collector of many things including bottles, coins, pocket watches, fruit jars, belt buckles and stamps.  He was a member of the Iowa Antique Bottleers Club.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years:  Julia LaBaume of Harcourt; 1 son:  Jerry LaBaume of Fort Dodge; and a brother:  Jack LaBaume of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister:  Margaret Boone and husband Tony.
