Funeral Services for James E. Poppi Botts 85 of Fort Dodge will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 1:30 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 until time of services, with family present from 10 am until noon. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. James Edward Botts was born January 3, 1931 in Whiting, Kansas to Hunn C. and Mary Anne (Woodson) Botts. He graduated from Central High School in Horton, Kansas. He served in the United States Army from 1951 through 1955. Poppi was united in marriage to Bessie Lewis on April 16, 1983 in Albert Lea, Minnesota and settled in Fort Dodge. The couple operated a restaurant for a few years after which Poppi went to work for the railroad, Brady Moving Company and finally at the Rabiner Treatment Center. His hobbies included whittling and sewing. He was know as a philosopher, always giving words of wisdom. Poppi was the grandfather of everyone who knew him being survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sister Barbara Ann Singletary, a niece Patty and a nephew Timothy. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bessie in 2010.
