Irene Peterson

Irene H. Peterson,99, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, at
Valley View Village Health Center. Irene was born July 26, 1912, in
Harcourt, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Business College in 1930
and worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and KVFD radio
station.

She married Ralph Wretman on May 21, 1939. They owned Wretmans
Toys and Togs from 1951 through 1967. Ralph died in May 1966.
Ralph and Irene had two children, John Wretman of Charlotte, North
Carolina and Julie (Wretman) Crawford of Windsor Heights, Iowa. Irene is
survived by son, John and wife, Beverly and their son, Christopher and wife,
Satomi; daughter, Julie and husband, Wallace Crawford, and their two sons,
Andrew and wife, Melissa, and Iain.

Irene was employed as an executive secretary at Fort Dodge Laboratories
for ten years. After retiring, she was employed as a proofreader at the Fort
Dodge Messenger.

Irene married Maurice L. Peterson on July 7, 1979, and moved to Yucaipa,
California. Maurice and Irene enjoyed their church, travelling and their
grandchildren. After Maurices death, Irene returned to Harcourt and wrote
a column for the Gowrie News. She moved to Valley View Village in 2001.
Irene devoted her wealth of energy to church service, family and caring
for those in need throughout her life.

Memorial services will be held at First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge,
Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First
Covenant Church.
