Funeral services for Hubert “Herb” R. Becker will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:30 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, IA. Visitation will be Monday 5pm to 7pm and continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial with full military honors provided by the Fort Dodge V.F.W. Post 1856 and the United States Marine Corp will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Hubert “Herb” Rinard Becker was born December 31, 1930 in Houston, Minnesota to Henry and Agnes (Meyer) Becker. As a small child the family moved to Iowa living in various communities before settling in Waterloo. Herb served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 – 1953. After his service, he moved to Fort Dodge where he was united in marriage to Sharol Kay Johnson on July 15, 1956. The couple lived in Fort Dodge and in 1965 they moved to Coalville where they have lived since. Herbs passion was Blue Grass Music. Herb and Sharol attended Blue Grass shows throughout the midwest.
He enjoyed gardening, especially his rose garden and taking care of his orchard.
On March 30, 2018 Herb passed away at his home in Coalville. He is survived by his wife Sharol and his three sons; Jesse J. (Lori) Becker, Dave D. (Brenda) Becker and Leo A. (Tammy) Dupree all of Fort Dodge, three grandchildren; Tasha Becker, Ashley (Rambo) Holder and Magen Becker, and four great grandchildren; Kaden, Raelynne, Rylie and Wyatt. He is also survived by one sister and one brother; Goldie (Clyde) Johnson and Wilfred Becker. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Agnes Becker, three sisters; Ruby, Henrietta, and Cleone, five brothers; Henry, Edwin, Leonard, Arnold, and Gerald, and one son Frank Becker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude's.
