Helen F. Kepler, 94, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2004 at the Heritage Apartments Chapel, Friendship Haven. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Trembly. Interment will follow in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Friendship Haven.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to Hospice of Fort Dodge, or Friendship Haven.

Helen Frances Burger was born December 7, 1909 the daughter of William Clyde and Ethel Leona (Estes) Burger in Tabor, IA. She graduated from Blair High School with the class of 1929 in Blair, NE. Helen continued her education at the Teachers College at Wayne State University. Helen used her teaching certificate to further youngster’s education in the rural schools near Blair. She taught for a couple of years prior to being married. In 1933 Helen was united in marriage to Dewey Kepler in Blair. She was later employed at various department stores such as; Gates, Boston Store, Younkers, Goodwill Industries, and Lillian’s.

Helen was active in the First United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, a 50 year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in which she held several offices. Helen was also the High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Helen belonged to the Fort Dodge Women’s Club, and the Fort Dodge Garden Club.

Helen is survived by one sister, Wilma Melton of Fort Dodge.

Mrs. Kepler was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dewey, one daughter Marlene Roznos on February 19, 2004, three sisters, Reatha Rogers, Mildred Beck, and Lela Love, and one brother, Marshall Burger.
