Rev. Harold W. Dellit, 85 of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, June 09, 2007 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Watson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

The family requests memorials be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Fort Dodge.

Harold was born in Clinton, Iowa on December 8, 1921 the son of Louis and Anna Dellit.  He attended the public schools in Clinton, Iowa, and later graduated from Clinton Senior High School in 1940.  He worked in a grocery store two years and in 1942 enrolled in Westmar College, LeMars, Iowa and at the same time enlisted in the United States Navy V-12 program.  He was allowed to stay in college during his freshman year, and then was assigned to the Iowa State University V-12 program were he was placed in Electrical Engineering studies.  Harold completed 3 years of studies in 2 years and then was sent to Notre Dame to Midshipman school.  He became eligible for discharge at this time and received his discharge on January 6, 1946.

On February 22, 1944 Harold was united in marriage to Lucile Curry in Omaha, NE.  They had three sons, Rickey, Ronald, Kevin, and adopted daughters, Karol and Kimberly.

Harold enrolled in Evangelical Theological Seminary in the fall of 1946 and graduated in 1949.  In May of 1949 he was ordained an Elder in the Iowa Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.  He served a student charge in Wilton, IA and following graduation from seminary he served churches in LuVerne, Toledo, Manly and Fort Dodge.  Harold was the District Superintendent of the Perry District of the United Methodist Church from 1972 until his retirement in 1978.  In 1975 he received an honorary degree from Morningside College.

Harold was a delegate to four General Conferences and three Jurisdictional Conferences.  He was a delegate at the General Conference in Dallas, Texas at the merger of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Harold served on the Board of Trustees of Westmar College for 14 years and was Chairman of the Board for the last 4.  He also served on the Friendship Haven Board, the Pension Board, the Alumni Council of Garret-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Youth Shelter Care Board, Advisory Committee of Home Health Care at Trinity Regional and several other boards and committees in the conference and community.

Harold is survived by his wife Lucile, sons; Ronald of Grundy Center, Kevin of Craig, CO., daughters; Karol of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kimberly of Red Oak, sisters; Anna Lou Campbell and twin sister Harriet Rajcevich, brother Raymond Dellit all of Clinton, IA six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Dellit was preceded in death by his son, Rickey, brother Wayne Dellit, sisters; Marjory Smith, Lillian Tolson and Arline Parker.
