Harold F. Armstrong
Harold F. Armstrong, 82, of Fort Dodge (Lanyon) passed away January 15, 2007 at the Villa Care Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Eric Marx officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Harold was born April 5, 1924 to Glen and Iola (Mabis) Armstrong. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1942 and immediately joined the Army. He served WWII in the China-Burma-India Campaign and retired after 32 years as a captain. In 1946 he married Mildred Samuelson at Boone, Iowa. They and their six children lived in Fort Dodge and later Lanyon.
Harold is survived by his wife Mildred, sons William (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids, IA; Robert of Bellflower, CA and Bruce (Rose) of Fort Dodge. Daughters Carol (Jack) Summers of Roland, IA; Cheryl (Richard) Gnade of Webster City, IA and Francine of Fort Dodge. Sisters Mandy (Jack) Boyton of Westchester, PA and Florine (Jim) Hawkins of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Armstrong, his mother and stepfather Iola and William Gibson; brother Jack Armstrong; sister Romona Westhoff; grandson Kevin DeFoe.
