H. Dean Harris

H. Dean Harris, 67, of Jewell, died Sunday August 10, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.             Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2008 at the Cass Township Cemetery in rural Webster City with the Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek.  Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home.             Dean was born September 24, 1940 the son of Henry John and Clara (Shaw) Harris in Clarion, Iowa.  On December 22, 1963 Dean was united in marriage to Glenda Trask in Webster City.  Dean was employed with the railroad for many years until his retirement.              Dean enjoyed being in the outdoors whether he was camping, fishing or working in his garden.  Dean loved to hunt. When his two boys were still living at home he decided that they could fetch the prize.  As he grew older he found that his passion for woodworking grew and became very fond of building numerous kinds of bird and squirrel houses.  Dean worked many years for the railroad but that didnt quench his thirst for collecting anything that had to do with trains.  He truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.             Those thankful for having shared in Deans life include his wife, Glenda, two sons; Henry D. Harris, Jr. of Kamrar, Rodney E. (Mindy) Harris of Blairsburg, two sisters; Caroline Ammerman of Clarion, Jane Morris of Clear Lake, one brother; Ray (Donna) Harris of Fort Dodge, five grandchildren; Justyn, Danika, MacKinley, Rylan, Cortney and one great granddaughter; Jazmyne.             Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents.
