George (Bill) W. Hessler 76 of Lake City formerly of Manson and Fort Dodge died Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa. George W. Hessler was born January 15, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was adopted by Frank and Jewell (Camelin) Hessler. He grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1958. He then was Certified by National Institute of Automotive Excellence in body work and auto painting. From 1958 to 1961 George worked for Whelckel – Sinder Body Shop. He then worked at Tom Kelly Ford from 1961 through 1964 and then Blackies Auto Body unitl 1969. George returned to Tom Kelly Ford in 1969 where in addition to auto painter, and damage appraiser, he was envolved in customer relations, and was the body shop manager. George then opened his own body shop, Fort Dodge Auto Body which he operated until 1985. George spent a short time in Los Angles before moving to Manson in 1994, where he has lived until becoming a resident at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa in 2013.
George is survived by his special friends, Stormy and Steve Smothers of Manson and brother-in-law Dan McCarville of California. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, and adopted sister.
