Gary D. Prange

Gary D. Prange, 83, of Fort Dodge, IA, and formerly of Pomeroy, IA, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center.  Due to concerns for everyone's health and safety, services will be held at a later date.

Gary was born December 29, 1936, in Pomeroy, the son of Russell and Irma (Dahlke) Prange. He graduated from Pomeroy Community High School in 1955. In 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1959. On September 3, 1984, Gary was united in marriage to Janice Juilfs at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He drove a truck for various employers for many years until his retirement in 2004. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and his children remember him never missing their games. He also enjoyed visiting Pella, IA, traveling to Indiana to visit his brother, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Gary's smile and quick wit will be missed by all.

Gary is survived by his wife of 36 years: Janice Prange of Fort Dodge; 3 children: Cindy Prange (Shawn) of Pomeroy, Doug Prange (Hannah) of Pella, and Dawn Charlson (Daniel) of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren: Chelsey, Jackson, Kylei, Halei and Covey; and 1 great grandchild: Casen. 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Russel and Irma; his first wife: Judith; his brother: Russell Jr. (Sonny) and his wife Ann.
