Gary A. Michalec

Gary A. Michalec, 64, of Cedar Rapids, IA, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, IA. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Gary was born June 3, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Rudolph and Francis (Bammert) Michalec. He attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. On June 2, 2001, Gary was united in marriage to Jennifer Werner in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Pepsi for numerous years. Gary enjoyed drinking, camping, softball and bowling. He also enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Gary is survived by his wife of almost 20 years: Jennifer Michalec of Cedar Rapids; 4 children: Angela Salter (Travis) of Marion, IA, Julia Michalec of Cedar Rapids, Ryann Nuss (Jen) of Des Moines, IA, and Jenny Nuss (Nate) of California; and 2 grandchildren: Gavin and Camden Salter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
