Gale Kit Brandrup, 92, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday February 26, 2009 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fort Dodge.  Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. Gale was born February 2, 1917 the son of Christian Kit and Martha Brandrup in Webster City, Iowa.  Gale was raised in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School.    On June 7, 1939 Gale was united in marriage to Dorothy Draper in Princeton, MO.  Following graduation from the College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO the couple moved to Eagle Grove where Gale was employed as a funeral director for Kastler Funeral Home until his induction into the United States Navy on May 24, 1943.  Gale served his country honorably in the Aleutian Islands.  He was discharged the Navy on October 16, 1945.  Following his tour of duty the family returned to Eagle Grove where Gale went back to work for Kastler Funeral Home.  In 1958 the family moved to Fort Dodge where Gale took the manager position at Bruces Funeral Home.  He held that position for several years and later became a consultant to the funeral home, retiring in 2001. Gale was an avid bowler and golfer especially enjoying the Monday Sr. Citizens Golf Tour.  Gale loved the outdoors including his relaxation time at his favorite fishing spot.  His family was his pride and joy especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.  Gale was always known to have a smile and a kind word for anyone he met.  He was a good man!  Gale was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Those thankful for having shared in Gales life include his children; Judy (Keith) Jamieson, Jack (Judy) Brandrup, grandchildren; Scott (Debbie) Jamieson, Shelle (Nicholas) Heisdorffer, Kit (Jill) Jamieson, Matthew (Courtney) Brandrup, Sarah Brandrup, Bart (Jessica) Brandrup, Jennifer (Carmen) McDonald, Angie Fouche, 29 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Brandrup was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, two sisters; Thelma, Gertrude, three brothers; Lester, Maris and Russell.
