Funeral Services for Ethel Marie Reeck 97 of Fort Dodge will be Monday, Sept 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Sunday 4-7 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery
Ethel Marie Reeck passed onto her heaven home September 17 but remains in our hearts
and leaves us with many special memories.
Born 3-10-17 in Fort Dodge to Kamma Broue (Hansen) and Walter L. Scherff. She
Graduated from Fort Dodge High School and Cosmetology School in Omaha, Nebraska
She worked for Blanche Henrichs Salon in Fort Dodge.
She married the love of her life, Fred Henry (Pit) Reeck May 16, 1939 in Fort Dodge.
Ethel was a Blue Bird and Campfire Girl Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader, active in PTA,
Church Circle, Izaak Walton League and she had child care in her home prior to serving
as Foster Grand Parent for 21 years.
She was an active long time member ofSt. Paul Lutheran church.
Ethel is survived by her 5 children, Kamma (Jim) Jorgensen, Trudy ( Ron) Koppen,
Ethelynn (Ken) Tuel, Martin (Pam) Reeck all of Fort Dodge and Larry (Carolyn) Reeck
of Bend, Oregon. 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great
grandchildren, and two sisters, Oda Anderson, Gowrie and Helen Weber of Omaha,
Nebraska, sister in law, June Scherff, Arvada, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pit in 1970, parents, sisters, Edith Smith
and Mary Porter, brothers, Robert Scherff, Raymond Scherff, and Don Scherff and
two granddaughters Marie Peterson and Lynnette Perucca and great grandchild, Olivia
Koppen.
Much appreciation to Gentiva Hospice, especially Holly and Lisa, who so lovingly served
Ethel and her family for 6 months. Also our thanks to those at Villa Care who helped her
through the last couple months.
The family wishes Memorials go to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
