Erwin F. Eilers

Erwin F. Eilers, 85, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Friendship Haven. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 400 S. 13th Street, with Rev. Kendall Meyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Erwin was born January 4, 1935, in Chicago, IL, the son of Fred and Hermine Eilers. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. On July 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to Gloria Van Hoff in Fort Dodge. Over the years, he worked at Chatlands in Humboldt and Bush Hog (formerly Standard Engineering) in Fort Dodge until his retirement on October 29, 1999.  Erwin enjoyed spending time with family, having coffee with his friends at Hy-Vee and Tom Thumb, mall walking in the mornings, and watching sports (especially football) on TV.

Erwin is survived by his wife of almost 60 years: Gloria Eilers of Fort Dodge; 3 sons: Kirk Eilers and wife Alane of Downers Grove, IL, Todd Eilers and wife Denise of Winnebago, IL, and Chad Eilers; 5 grandchildren: Zachary and wife Becky, Alexa, Ben, Sara and Jillian; and sister-in-law: Janet Siglin of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister: Hadey Eilers.
