Ernestine I. Counley

Ernestine I. Counley, 97, of Fort Dodge died November 9, 2004 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim Geitz officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church on Friday. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Ernestine was born April 30, 1907 in Bancroft, NE to Heinrich “Henry” and Rosa (Mayer) Neuhaus. She graduated from high school and then went on to graduate from Norfolk Business College. She made Fort Dodge her home in 1929. In 1930 she was united in marriage to John Counley in Fort Dodge. Ernestine dedicated 31 years to the Fort Dodge Laboratories and retired in 1972.

Ernestine loved working with ceramics, making quilts and knitting. She enjoyed many trips with the Senior Center and was devoted to her faith. Ernestine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Eunice Church Circle.

Ernestine will be greatly missed by her son, Richard Counley of Des Moines, IA; 2 grandchildren, Cheryl (Robert) MacLaird of Beech, IA, David (Nylene) Counley and their children Brett and Alissa Counley of Omaha, NE.
