Emil Lowell Kuester
Emil Lowell Kuester, 84, of Fort Dodge, died Monday June 9, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home with the Rev. John Sersland officiating. Interment will follow in the North Lawn cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch V.F.W. Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Emil was born May 3, 1924 the son of Corwin Henry and Frances Lucille (Boadwine) Kuester in Vienna, SD. On June 22, 1945 Emil was inducted into the United States Army serving his country until his honorable discharge on December 15, 1946. On July 5, 1951 Emil was united in marriage to Patricia Lane in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Emil worked on the family farm for several summers and was very proud of the year he put the entire crop in at the age of 16, do to an illness in the family. He went on to work for the WPA on the Fort Randall Dam Project. After moving to Fort Dodge he went to work at Georgia Pacific until the time of his retirement. Emil enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. He always kept himself busy working in the yard and in his garden. He loved to watch Mash and Matlock, as well as working on crossword puzzles. Emil looked forward to his Wednesday morning coffee with his Georgia Pacific retiree friends. Those thankful for having shared in Emils life include his son; Kelly Kuester of Fort Dodge, Iowa, two sisters; Gladys Marie Olesen of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Louise Frances Kuester of Minneapolis, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kuester was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Patricia, two brothers; Henry Lyle Kuester and Clifford Harvey Kuester.
