Edna E. Fishel, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5. A lifelong resident of Fort Dodge, she moved to St. Lukes Nursing Home in Spencer in 2011.
Edna Vinsant was born June 27, 1922 and attended Fort Dodge schools. She married Earl R. Fishel on February 14, 1941. They raised their family in Fort Dodge, and she was a homemaker most of her life. Known for her excellent cooking and baking, some of her familys favorites were her cutout Christmas cookies, pies, cinnamon and pecan rolls and potato salad. Her quick wit always made people laugh. And each and every day she would put on her make-up and jewelry, fix her hair and dress impeccably.
Edna is survived by her daughter Julie Forslund, Spencer; Earl (Lauren) Fishel, Cedar Hill, TX; Terry (Gini) Fishel, Lawrenceville, GA; and Brian (Peggie) Fishel, Badger. Her grandchildren include Dr. Darrel (Sandi) Forslund, Spencer; Stacy (Dennis) Ratashak, Mitchellville; Rod Forslund, Chicago, Stephanie (Paul) Hamilton, Ankeny; Leah (Allan) Jordan, Taylorsville, GA; Jessa (Jeff) Smith, Jonestown PA; Ryan (Megan Springer) Fishel, Fort Dodge; Erica Fishel, Ankeny; Christopher Fishel, Santa Monica, CA; Mark Fishel, Cedar Hill, TX, and Amanda Condra, Des Moines. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 1978, and her son-in-law Darrel Forslund, Sr., in May 2014, and her parents and seven siblings.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-1 p.m.on Monday, Nov 10 at Bruces Funeral Home, followed by a service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park.
