Dorothy M. Thompson
Dorothy M. Thompson, 96, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Tomkins Memorial Health Center, Fort Dodge.
Services will be held at the Friendship Haven Celebration Center at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 24 with the Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Branson Cemetery, Loveland, Iowa. There will be no visitation.
Dorothy Margaret (McMillen) Thompson was born May 26, 1909 in Logan, Iowa. She graduated from Logan High School in 1927 and taught school in Iowa and Virginia. She married Grover Thompson in 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Her husband preceded her in death in 1970.
Dorothy moved to the Friendship Haven Apartments in 1988. During her lifetime she was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Webster County Retired Teachers Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Rose Rebekah Lodge in Omaha, Nebraska and First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. She was also a member of the Trinity Regional Hospital Auxilary.
Those thankful for having shared in Dorothys life include numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Frances Morris, brothers Dae McMillen and Cecil McMillen, half brothers Paul and Olin McMillin, half sister Neva McMillen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friendship Haven or First United Methodist Church, Fort Dodge.
