Doris Mae Rykhus,71, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Ia after a short illness. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Bruce~Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 923 1st Ave South, Fort Dodge with the Rev. Bill Trembly officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm-7pm, Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Elkhorn Cemetery.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sharon Unruh of Seminole, FL; 1 sister Dorothy Turnquest of Sioux Rapids, IA.; Grandchildren, Eric Unruh of San Marcos, TX., Amanda Unruh of Seminole, FL., Catherine (Doug) Lange of Newell, IA, Barry Copp Jr. (Charlotte) of Newell, IA, Chad Copp of Storm Lake, IA; Great Grandchildren, Aidan McDermott of Storm Lake, IA., Katie Martin of Bartlesville, OK; a very special friend, Roy “Smitty” Smith of Fort Dodge, IA.

Doris Rykhus was born June 6, 1932 to Raymond and Agnes Sheker Sr. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School. She married Thomas Rykhus in 1951 and they resided in Callendar, IA until 1977, when they moved to Fort Dodge. She was employed in the dietary field at Prairie Community Schools, Northwood's Living and Friendship Haven.

Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, listening to country music, dancing, and trips to the casinos. She took great pride in her work and always put others before herself. She looked after many close friends and will be greatly missed. Her memories will be cherished by those that knew and loved her.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rykhus in 1978 and daughter Cheryl Copp in 2001.
