Doris McDonald

Doris R. McDonald 84 of Otho, Iowa died Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Paul J Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Friendship Haven Celebration Center at 2:30. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1pm until the time of service at the Celebration Center. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Doris Ruth Thorsbakken McDonald was born September 16, 1931 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Leonard and Ruth (Gustafson) Thorsbakken. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1949. Doris was united in marriage to Lyle “Mac” McDonald on May 2, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Doris was employed at Hormel for many years, where she worked in the office and did teletype.

Her hobbies included raising and showing prize winning coon dogs, enjoyed going to area casinos and was heavily involved with the Otho Music Jam. Doris will always be remembered for her love of doing things for others.

She was a member of the Otho United Methodist Church where she served as finance officer.

She is survived by many 6 nieces and 1 nephew and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Otho United Methodist Church or Otho Fireworks Fund.
