Donald F. Henrichs, 86, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Saturday, May 8, 2021, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 15, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Rev. Kendall Meyer of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 1856 and the Army Funeral Honor Guard. Services will be live streamed via our Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook Page. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Donald Frederick was born November 24, 1934, in Bradgate, IA, the son of Christopher and Dorothy (Nesler) Henrichs. He attended Fort Dodge Senior High. In 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Frankfurt, Germany until his honorable discharge in 1959. Don was a Welder and worked at Metal Products and Smithway Trucking until his retirement in 2005. Don enjoyed attending local Auctions, Hillbilly Sales and Gun Shows. He also enjoyed target shooting (black powder muzzleloader), gardening, fishing and visiting with family & friends over meals. In his younger years, he spent a lot of time with his uncle, Ross Nelser, helping him with crop dusting near Moorland.
Don is survived by 4 daughters: Monique Clemens of Denver, CO, Sherrie Henrichs of Humboldt, IA, Tina Henrichs of Clarion, IA and Chantal Dickinson and husband Paul of Mebane, NC; 6 grandchildren: Keegan Clemens, Sheena Geisinger, Kelsey Clemens, Makinzie Larson, Olivia Dickinson and Sophia Dickinson; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Robert “Sonny” Henrichs of Iowa, Louis Allison and husband Jim of Fort Dodge, Christine “Christy” Heman and husband Bob of Minnesota and June Dallmann of Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister: Mary Wood.
