Donald Dean Cummins, 71, of Fort Dodge, IA died Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South – Fort Dodge. A time of sharing will begin at 3:30 PM followed by Military Honors at 4:00 PM conducted by the VFW Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Military Honors will be live streamed via the Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook page. Inurnment will take place at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Donald was born December 23, 1950, in Fort Dodge, the son of Wilbur Dean and Mary Ethel (Edwards) Cummins. In 1968, he graduated from Central Webster High School in Burnside, IA. On July 9, 1971, Donny enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on July 20, 1974. Donny worked as a heavy equipment operator at USG for many years. Donny enjoyed spending time with his family, auctions, thrift shopping, fishing, riding motorcycles, stock car races, being outdoors (hiking), collecting puzzles & cat toys, art work (Terry Redlin), and sports – especially going to Iowa State Games. He also enjoyed his huge coin collection and keeping busy.

Donny is survived by 3 children: Diane Wicker and husband David of Fort Dodge, Heather Cummins and boyfriend Jesse Whitehill of Fort Dodge, and Chad Cummins of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren: Asia Champson and husband Tanner of Fort Dodge, Ashley Nachampassak of Fort Dodge, Carson Nachampassak of Fort Dodge, Aaron Nachampassak of Ames, and Sophia Wicker of Fort Dodge; 2 siblings: Harold Cummins and wife Ginger of Otho, IA and Diane Long and husband Pat of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law: Deb Cummins of Vincent, IA; aunt: Vicky Rockafellow of Fort Dodge; and his ex-wife: Lynnette Wyatt of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother: Roy Cummins.
