Dennis K Chase

Funeral services for Dennis K. Chase 75 of Otho will be Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:30 at First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge with Rev Allan Redenius officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Otho Cemetery.

 

Dennis Keith Chase was born January 5, 1943 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Norland and Ruby (Olson) Chase. He grew up in rural Otho and was in the last graduating class of Otho High School in 1960. He then attended Iowa Central and Tobin Business College.

 

Dennis was united in marriage to Jeri Thorson on August 31, 1963 in Somers, Iowa. The couple settled in rural Fort Dodge. To this union three children were born, Scott, Tammie and Jennifer. In 1971 the family moved to rural Otho. Dennis worked for New Coop for a couple years and then Farm and Town Lumber for several years. In 1981, Dennis started farming after his father died and has farmed ever since. He enjoyed camping, and wood working. He made all the grandchildren either a rocking horse or hope chests and made many shelves and knick knacks for his friends. Dennis played organ at the Otho-Kalo Community Church for over 40 years and served as treasurer. He served as the Otho Township Clerk, member of the Civitan Club where he served as president, and served on the Cemetery Board. Dennis especially enjoyed his coffee club. He is a member of the Otho-Kalo Community Church and has been attending First Covenant Church for the past 10 years.

On October 30, 2018 Dennis passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He is survived by his wife Jeri of Otho, his children; Scott Chase of Sioux City, Tammie (Bruce) Antle of Sioux City and Jennifer Kennedy of Eagle Grove, six grandchildren; Ashley Antle (Kevin) Bieniek, Chase Antle, Jarrett Chase, Connor Chase, Makinzy Kennedy and Karter Kennedy, and one great grandson Corbin. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Vicki) Chase of Rockledge, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
