Gathering of family and friends of Deborah Fancher 61 of Jefferson, formerly of Fort Dodge will be Saturday October 18, 2014 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home from 2pm to 4pm. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Blanchard Cemetery, Brushy Creek near Lehigh in Washington Township.
Deborah Kay (Pigman) Fancher, the daughter of Jack and Ruth (Elliot) Pigman, was born October 4, 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended public schools in Fort Dodge and Rinard, graduating in 1972 from Cedar Valley School. She excelled in art and music, receiving several awards and honors.
She was employed at Globe-Union in Fort Dodge following her graduation. She also worked as needed at Martins Tap and Jud Grocery, both in Knierim.
Deborah was married to Charles Fancher on June 18, 1983 in Rinard, Iowa. The couple lived in numerous cities and towns including Fort Dodge, Somers, Moorland, Pomeroy, Audubon, and Jefferson.
Deborah lost her leg to diabetes in 2002, but continued at home making beaded jewelry, weaving, drawing, scrapbooking, and other hobbies. She was admitted to Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center of Jefferson in January of 2013.
Deborah is survived by her husband Charles of Audubon, her father Jack of Lehigh, brother Jack of Leesville, Louisiana, and sister Ella Cherry of Fort Dodge and many nieces, nephews, and their families, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth, a brother Larry, and sisters Margaret and Pearl.
