Danny Dan D. Richardson

Danny “Dan” D. Richardson, 74, of Lehigh, IA, died Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Richard Laird officiating. A private family visitation will be held. Interment will take place at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing must be followed and masks are required. Services will also be live streamed via our Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Danny Dwayne Richardson was born October 1, 1946, in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Wayne and Irene (Dahl) Richardson. He graduated from Central Webster High School in 1964. Following graduation, he worked at the Lehigh Sewer Pipe and Tile Company until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. He then resumed employment at the Lehigh Sewer Pipe and Tile Company. On May 22, 1970, Dan was united in marriage to Eileen at the Lehigh United Methodist Church. In 1981, Dan began working for the 133rd Air Guard until his retirement in 2006. Dan enjoyed fishing, gambling, working on his truck and tinkering in the garage. He was also looking forward to watching his daughter and grandson in Figure 8 racing.

Dan is survived by his wife of 50 years: Eileen of Lehigh; daughter: Danelle Lenz and husband Randy of Barnum, IA; 3 grandchildren: Madison Richardson of Virginia Beach, VA, Christian Kennedy of Barnum and Cameron Kennedy of Clare, IA; 2 great grandchildren: William Kennedy and Shelby Kennedy; and a brother: Keith Richardson and wife Sally of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Joseph Richardson; and great grandson: Joseph Michael Kennedy.
