Clifford R. Rhoades, 92, of Webster City, IA, died Monday, November 11, 2019, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Clifford Roy was born April 19, 1927, in York, NE, the son of William C. and Hulda (Olson) Rhoades. He graduated from York High in 1945, and continued his education at York College, earning his bachelor's degree in education in 1949. On August 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Eileen Milam in York. Later, Clifford decided to further his education by obtaining his masters degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1988. Over the years, he taught at various schools in the York County area, including Southeast Nebraska Consolidated Schools in Stella. Following his retirement in 1993, Cliff did some substitute teaching. He was also a part time farmer for 30 years. Clifford enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, reading and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a former member of the Electrical Co-Op, 4-H and Rotary.
Clifford is survived by 3 children: Michael Rhoades and wife Donna of Duncombe, IA, Joel Rhoades and wife Carrie of Ogden, UT and Clifford Jay Rhoades and wife Jan of Chubbuck, ID; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years in 2018; and 4 siblings.
