Clara A. Kelso

Funeral services for Clara Kelso 96 of Fort Dodge will be Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 1:30 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Elkin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clara A. Kelso was born February 7, 1921 in Willmar, Minnesota to Lars and Ida (Mickelson) Akre. As a teenager her family moved to Iowa. On March 8, 1939 she was united in marriage to Harold Kelso in Emmetsburg, Iowa. The family lived in Emmetsburg for a number of years before moving to Moorland and Roland and finally settling in Fort Dodge. Clara worked in housekeeping for several years at the Holiday Inn and Towers Hotel. Clara enjoyed putting puzzles together, word search, crocheting and bowling.

October 20, 2017 Clara died at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. She is survived by her daughter Betty Black of Fort Dodge, her son Leonard Kelso of Fort Dodge, and daughters-in-law Carolyne Kelso of Trenton, Missouri and Lori Kelso of Fort Dodge. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Ronald and Clifford, and an infant daughter.
