Billie Stanley

Billie Jo Stanley, 64, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center, with her family beside her after her lungs started to fail.  To honor Billie Jo’s memory, there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Deer Creek Apartments (Activity Room), 700 S. 17th Street.  Anyone who knew her is invited to attend and celebrate her memory.  There will be snacks and refreshments provided. Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Billie Jo Stanley was born on February 3, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri to William W. Stanley and Beatrice F. (White) Stanley. During her childhood they were moving constantly until she finally settled down in Fort Dodge, Iowa as a young adult. Growing up her father was a truck driver and when she was 8 they had gotten into a bad trucking accident that resulted in the loss of her right leg.  Not that she would let that slow her down as you could always see her driving her wheelchair around town sporting a “2fast4u” plate.

Billie Jo loved to volunteer and keep herself busy in multiple endeavors through the years such as: DSAOC, Girl Scouts, and various roles at Deer Creek Apartments (which she resided in for over 20 years). She thoroughly enjoyed talking with people and connecting with others in person and through social media. Along with that Billie Jo also had a few collections of different figurines and stuffed animals that she had enjoyed gathering over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, sisters, nieces/nephews, and others. Billie Jo was preceded in death by her parents, son, and other siblings.
