Funeral services for Betty M Meinking 88 of Fort Dodge will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Friday 5pm to 7pm at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge.
Betty Marie Meinking was born March 23, 1929 in Guthrie County, Iowa to George and Elsie (Miller) Bacon. The family lived in various counties throughout Iowa. In 1962 she graduated from Beauty School and opened her beauty salon called Betty's Beauty Salon. She was united in marriage to Robert Meinking in 1968. After closing her salon, Betty worked for the Fort Dodge School District for several years and then retired. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since 1969. Betty loved to garden, especially raising flowers and was an avid fisherwoman. She also enjoyed playing golf with her two brothers Art and Jerry.
On October 24, 2017 Betty Marie Meinking went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers; Delores Newkirk of Lehigh, Karen (Donald) Hill of Otho, Art (Anna) Bacon of Fort Dodge and Jerry (Sharon) Bacon of Humboldt. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, long time friend Joe Hoffman, sister Dolly and three brothers; Darrell, Lloyd and Ed.
