Funeral Services for Pastor Bessie Williams age 90 of Fort Dodge will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2105 from 4pm until 7pm and continue on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. She died January 27, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.
Bessie Williams was born October 2, 1924 in Flora, Mississippi to I.T. and Josephine (Draper) Trotter. She grew up in Mississippi. She was united in marriage to Fred Newt Williams in 1939. The family moved to Iowa in 1951. For several years Bessie was the cook at her various restaurants she owned and operated. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Bessie was saved and dedicated her life to the Lord. She evangelized Gods word throughout the United States and Canada. Her mission was to spread the word of God in order for people to repent and to be saved. Bessie started her own church in Fort Dodge, Missionary Followers of Jesus, in 1960.
Pastor Bessie is survived by her children; Pearl Wilson, Charles Williams, Dorothy Bodady, Fred Newt Williams Jr., and Mary Bashir all of Fort Dodge, 26 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, and 34 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Ollie Hoque of Fort Dodge, Lois Jackson of Jackson, MS, Thomas Trotter of Stockton, CA and Felton Trotter of Chicago. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Edna Pigford and siblings; L.G. Trotter, Vinell Trotter, Allie Pope, Rufus Trotter, Louise Stanley, Butler Trotter, and Josephine Trotter.
