Benjamin “Bennie” E. Andrews, Sr., 71 of rural Duncombe, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh.  Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 

Bennie was born September 7, 1934 the son of James B. and Bridget M (West) Andrews in Evanston, IA.  Bennie resided on the same farm for his entire life.  He attended the Evanston Country School through the 8th grade.  On February 20, 1954 Bennie was united in marriage to Shirley C. Grossnickle in Fort Dodge.

Bennie farmed and worked at the following places over the years; Lehigh Brick and Tile, Vincent Clay, USG, Cargill, and Fort Dodge Iron and Metal.  Bennie semi retired from his numerous activities but assisted whenever needed.  He loved family events such as; camping, floating down the river, hunting, trapping, and fishing.  His life revolved around work and raising livestock.  During the summer months Bennie enjoyed picking raspberries and making pies with them.  He also would spend hours in his garden nurturing his plants.

Those thankful for having shared in Bennies life include his wife Shirley, three children; Douglas Duane Andrews, David Alan and his wife Sally Andrews, Benjamin Ellsworth Andrews, Jr., one sister; Elizabeth Grossnickle, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Randal Lee Andrews, Sr., three sisters; Mary Pigman, Amanda Rounds, Virginia Grossnickle, and two brothers; James and William Andrews.
