Austin J. Black, 53, of Fort Dodge, IA died Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at his home. Services will be held in South Dakota. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Austin Josiah Black Cat was born August 6, 1966, in Pine Ridge, SD, the son of Joseph and Lena (Left Hand) Black Cat. He attended school in Martin, SD and continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Austin was a welder by trade and enjoyed building. He was part of the Fish Hatchery Project in South Dakota. He also enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles, football and spending time with his friends. He loved animals and always had a dog.
Austin is survived by his wife: Kim Garrett of Fort Dodge; siblings: Richard Left Hand and wife June of Pine Ridge, Leonard Black Cat and wife Del Marie of Rapid City, SD, Jacquie Deines-Rynders of Rapid City, and Frances Marshall III; and his foster mother: Kay Pettyjohn of Rapid City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Myron Black Cat; and two sisters: Mary Rose Moran and Pamela Marshall.
