Arvis M Hair

Funeral services for Arvis M. Hair 97 of Fort Dodge will be Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge.  Visitation will be on Friday one hour prior to services.  Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Manson.  Arvis died at the Villa Cottages in Fort Dodge on Monday, December 1, 2014.

Arvis Marita Cox was born in Manson, Iowa on July 29, 1917, the only child of Arthur and Julia Leith Cox.  She attended rural schools in Palo Alto and Calhoun counties.  She moved to Fort Dodge in 1929 and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1934.  She then attended Fort Dodge-Tobin Business College.  She moved to Ayrshire in 1938 where she worked as a linotype operator and assisted her parents in publishing the local newspaper. She also was employed part time at the bank there.  Arvis was united marriage to Horace Ferrand in 1949.  They lived in Spencer until 1951 when they moved to Fort Dodge where she has resided since.  Arvis was employed for many years in banks in Ayrshire and Fort Dodge.  Horace passed away in 1958.  In 1960 she was united in marriage to Theodore Hair in Fort Dodge.  They enjoyed 34 years of marriage, spending winters in Arizona and Texas.  Theodore passed away in 1994.

Arvis was a member of First Baptist Church and American Baptist Womens Friendship Circle.  She did volunteer work at the church and at Friendship Haven and was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  Arvis loved horses, and was a member of saddle clubs for many years.  Her interests were reading, embroidery, card playing and crafts.

She is survived by her stepson, Eugene and his wife Wilma Hair of Fort Dodge, step granddaughter, Christine and her husband Tom Monahan of Farnhamville, step grandson David and his wife Denise Hair of Brandon, SD and step great grandson Douglas Hair.
