Celebration of Life Services for Arthur Delp 76 of Fort Dodge, will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:30 at the Clare Community Center. Gathering of friends and family will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
Arthur Delp was born July 6, 1940 near Jefferson, Iowa in Greene County to Milton and Cecil Mae (Crooks) Delp. He attended country school near Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1958. He then attended Automotive Trade School in Omaha, NE and graduated in 1959. Arthur served in the United State Army from 1961 through 1967. He continued his service in the Army Reserve from 1981 through 1992.
Arthur was united in marriage to Sharon Gravlund on December 10, 1961 in Callender, IA. Arthur worked as service manager for several Ford and Chevrolet dealerships in Jefferson, Sac City, Carroll, Fort Dodge and Quincy, IL and finally at Levein Chevrolet. In 1985 Art started his own business, Delp Auto and Truck in Fort Dodge. Many may remember his cheerful morning greetings on the radio, advertising his business. Art was known as a hard worker and always had second jobs and was busy working around the shop. Even after he retired in 1999, Art had a Messenger Newspaper route and started Deer Creek Kennels.
On September 5, 2016 Arthur Delp died at his home in Fort Dodge. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughter Deb Delp, son Rod Delp and his partner Diane White, and son Rafael, two granddaughters, Ashley Rank and Mariah (Jacob) Messerly and three great grandchildren Braylin, Addison and Ryder. He is also survived by one sister Martha Walston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Leland, Warren, Jake, Ronnie and Delmar and sisters; Margaret, Marian, Eleanor, Dorothy and Ester.
