Funeral services for Ann Marie Baker 84 of Fort Dodge will be Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh, Iowa. She passed away at her home on Monday.
Ann Marie (Kern) Baker was born February 11, 1934 in Austin, Minnesota to Adam and Kate (Winters) Kern. The family moved to Fort Dodge and she graduated from Corpus Christi Academy. Ann was united in marriage to Gerald Baker on September 11, 1954 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. To this union three children were born; Diane, Steven and Robert. After her children were raised, she worked for J.C Penney in the office for about 17 years and then worked as a cook for the Fort Dodge Schools. Ann will always be remembered for her devotion to her husband and taking care of him for over 17 years after he suffered from a stroke. Ann enjoyed putting puzzles together, and needle point. She made tea towels which she often gifted to her family and friends.
She is survived by her children; Diane Gaitan of Haslett, Michigan, Steven (Victoria) Baker of Hartwell, Georgia, and Robert (Linda) Baker of Fort Dodge, seven grandchildren; Jacob, Nicole, Zane, Sawyer, Dan, Todd and Kiley, and twelve great grandchildren. Ann is also survived by her siblings; Betty Dutcher, Jim Kern, and Helen Munn, all of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Gerald.
