Private Family Services for Ada Ruth Jones 94 of Jefferson, formerly of Otho will be held at a later date. She died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Greene County Medical Center Long Term Care surrounded by her family.
Ada Ruth (Peardon) Jones was born July 13, 1921 in Jefferson, Iowa to George and Daisy (Secrist) Peardon. She attended various country schools. Due to her health as a child, she moved with her family to Texas, later returning to Jefferson, IA. She was united in marriage to Rev. R.S. Jones on August 18, 1941. Being traveling Evangelists, Rev Jones and Ada Ruth spread the word of the Lord through out the United States. Otho-Kalo Community Church which they served for almost 15 years, was the last church they served as pastors. Ada Ruth's hobbies and interests included, sewing and music. She played many instruments including piano, accordion and violin.
She is survived by her daughters; Judy Watson of Bridgeport, Illinois, Karen (Donald) Ervin of Otho and Cathy (Keith) Hurlburt of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, five grandchildren; Kevin (Jodie) Watson, Brent Watson, Dan (Kamela) Ervin, Niccole Begalle and David Hurlburt. She is also survived by six great grandchildren; Brandon, Tammy, Shaun, Garrett, Owen and Trace. Ada Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. R.S. Jones on August 7, 1994, her sisters Alma, Catharine, Marguerette, Esther and son-in-law Rev. Bill Watson.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Greene County Medical Center Long Term Care and Hospital and St. Croix Hospice for all the wonderful care Ada Ruth received.
