Linda R. Hansel

Linda R. Hansel, 72, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, IA.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Union Cemetery in Humboldt, IA, with Pastor Emily Sauer of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Linda was born August 19, 1950, in Humboldt, the daughter of Earl and Alice (Mathiason) Madsen.  She attended school in Humboldt and Fort Dodge.  Linda married Danny Hammersland and to this union 2 children were born:  David and Matthew.  The couple later divorced.  On September 30, 1982, she married Roger Hansel.  They farmed in Chariton until 1995 when they moved to Fort Dodge.  Linda was a homemaker who also drove truck with Roger.  Linda enjoyed horseback riding, taking care of her dogs and playing Atari & PAC-MAN.  She was a former member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Linda is survived by 2 children:  David Hammersland and wife Michelle of Fort Dodge and Matt Hammersland of Fort Dodge; 4 grandchildren:  Halie, Kaleb, Taylor and Tanner; and brother:  Mike Madsen Sr. of Fort Dodge.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband:  Roger Hansel in 2015; brother:  Larry Madsen; and sister-in-law:  Annji Madsen.
